South Miami, which is a suburban city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, encompasses approximately 2.5 square miles and is commonly known as the City of Pleasant Living. Located three miles south of Downtown Miami, it borders the main campus of the University of Miami, and is adjacent to the cities of Coral Gables, Pinecrest, and Dadeland.
The City of South Miami, incorporated in 1927, has its own city government, two major hospitals - South Miami Hospital and Larkin Hospital, shopping, in particular, The Shops at Sunset Place, movie theaters, and a variety of dining experiences, all offering a hometown ambience.
Dadeland is a residential and business neighborhood located in Southwest Miami-Dade County, between SW 80th Street to the north, US1 to the east, and the Palmetto Expressway to the west. From Dadeland, the North Station and South Station offer commuters the convenience of Miami Metrorail, which takes approximately 20 minutes to Downtown Miami.
